Age 89; formerly of Berea, KY
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 3 PM at Scott Funeral Home in Jeffersonville, IN. Visitation will begin at 2 PM on Saturday.
Jean was born on December 14, 1924 to the late Paul Lloyd and Eleanor Bledsoe. She passed away on November 16, 2014.
She is survived by her children, Paula Bower (Gary), Lynn Horrar (Bill Nixon), Ann Longsworth and Kathy Horrar; two grandchildren, Tyler Horrar and Evan Nixon; and nephew, Scott Russ (Kathleen).
She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Horrar; and sister, Betty Russ.
Jean, with her love and appreciation for nature was an accomplished gardener concentrating in native plants and wildflowers. She was instrumental in establishing a Monarch Butterfly Waystation at her home in Berea. She loved playing bridge and attending concerts with her friends. She was an active supporter of Berea arts and crafts. She was always willing to learn and try new things, and most recently learned to play chimes at her new home in Westminster Village.
She attended the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Richmond, KY and the Center for Spiritual Living in Louisville, Ky. She was a member of the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) and the Berea Arts Council.
As an eternal optimist, she never passed up an opportunity to embrace life. She was truly an inspiration to all who knew her. Please join us as we celebrate her life.
