Funeral services for Jean P. Chandler, 88, formerly of Jeffersonville, IN, will be held at 2 PM, Sunday, October 5, 2014, at Scott Funeral Home, with visitation to follow the service until 5 PM that evening. A private entombment in Graceland Mausoleum will be held at a later date. She passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2014, in Mooresville, IN.
Jean was born on February 10, 1926 to the late Dowell and Ada Lee Thompson. She was a retired secretary from Rose Hill Elementary School and was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Jeffersonville. While living in Mooresville, IN, she followed her love for reading and volunteered her time at the Mooresville Public Library for the last 10 years.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Clifford W. Chandler; a grandson, David Walton Chandler; and a sister, Frances Downen.
She is survived by her two children, Cindy Crouch and her husband Danny; Rick Chandler and his wife Evelyn; a sister, Dorothy Russler; eight grandchildren, Robert Crouch and his wife Jessica, Scott Crouch, Charmaine Rice and her husband Jeremiah, Madelaine Brayer, Chris Funk and his wife Andrea, Daniel Smith and his wife Becky, Josh Funk and his wife Sharon, Luke Funk; and fourteen great grandchildren.
