Joe was born in Hodgenville, KY. They later moved to New Haven, KY, where he graduated from St. Catherine High School and was a basketball hero there. Because of that he received a scholarship from Bellarmine University where he graduated. After graduating he joined the Army. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Louisville and became General Manager for the new Sears and Roebuck in Clarksville, IN. He always had an entrepreneurial spirit and after leaving Sears he opened 21 Windmill Pancake houses all over Kentucky and Indiana. He later became a National sales director for Primerica Financial Services. After retiring, Joe needed more to do than play golf and watch sports. He went to work for Riverside Parking Garage where he worked until he became ill with pancreatic cancer. He loved the many people and friends he made while working there.
Joe and his wife Janie loved to travel and play golf, but he had a passion for dancing. They went to Hawaii several times and also the Bahamas, Bermuda and many states in the US. Joe loved sports. He never missed a football or basketball game. He had a passionate love for golf. He and his uncle, Tommy Borders, were golf partners for 40 years. Tommy and Christine were like second parents to him.
Joe is predeceased by his parents, Fred and Catherine Boone; brother, Fred Boone; sister, Tina Raque; and two step-daughters, Melissa Crawford and Angela Jacobs, who loved him dearly.
He is survived by his wife, Janie; his four children, Joseph B. Boone (Mary), Daniel E. Boone (Linh), Ann Parris (Greg), and Jane Barlow and her husband Bill. He has 10 grandchildren, Matthew (Katie), Mark (Althea), Benjamin (Kristin) and Patrick Parris, Hannah Boone, Ian, Katlin and Garrett Barlow, Lauren and Kristen Jacobs. He has two brothers, Michael Boone (Johneva) and Tommy Boone; and three sisters, Patty Voyles (Billy), Martha Wilkerson (Jerry) and Mary Jean Williams (Gordie). He was also just blessed with his first great-granddaughter, Cecelia Rose Parris.
Joe was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Jeffersonville, IN. His Catholic faith was his heart and soul. He attended daily Mass at St. Martin of Tours and St. Louis Bertrand. Joe's love and devotion to God was never wavering. He was a true believer and that sustained him though this illness. May he now rest in peace in the arms of the Lord.
