Kenneth Dunlap Obituary

KENNETH DUNLAP, died at his home in Gilbertsville on Thursday evening, October 9, following a lengthy illness. He was born in Cairo, Illinois, on June 27, 1928. He was the son of the late John and Ruth Dunlap.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters, 2 brothers, and his daughter, Teresa Craig.
He leaves behind his wife of 65 years, Juanita (Bonnie) Dunlap of Gilbertsville; his daughter, Kenna Jones and her husband Dan of Gilbertsville; his son-in-law, Ken Craig of Jeffersonville, Indiana; 1 sister and 3 brothers, Glenna Mehling of Corydon, Indiana, Gale Dunlap of Jeffersonville, Indiana, David Dunlap and Mike Dunlap both of Louisville, Kentucky; 6 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Ken was a retired State Farm agent serving the community of Clarksville, Indiana, for 31 years. He loved his job because it provided him many opportunities to be of service to others. He won many awards with State Farm and was called on often to speak at various functions and to train new agents. Ken was thankful that his work with State Farm provided him with opportunities to combine his Christianity with his work by serving others. He always went the extra mile and encouraged others to do the same.
Ken & Bonnie Dunlap raised their daughters in Jeffersonville, Indiana. They worshiped with both the Meigs Avenue and Northside churches of Christ. Ken served as an elder at the Northside church of Christ for 27 years. He was a board member for Childplace Children's Home for 25 years. When he retired, he and Bonnie moved to Gilbertsville, Kentucky, in 1994. While living in Kentucky, Ken was a member of the Briensburg church of Christ and, more recently, Benton Church of Christ. He frequently traveled throughout the area, preaching at various congregations. Ken served as a volunteer at the Kentucky Dam Village Golf course.
