Thomas E. Behringer

Thomas E. Behringer, 64, of Jeffersonville, IN passed away peacefully at his home in Jeffersonville on July 1st surrounded by his family. Visitation will be from 4-8pm at Scott Funeral Home on Monday July 7th and 9 to 11 am on Tuesday July 8th with a Memorial service to follow at 11 am.
Tom was born July 20, 1949, in Washington, PA, son of the late Harold and Sara Ware Behringer. He was a 1967 graduate of DuBois Central Catholic High School, DuBois, PA and a 1971 graduate of Pennsylvania State University. He served in the US Coast Guard as an officer in charge of the Coast Guard Presidential Honor Guard followed by years as a marine inspector and investigative officer. After his military service, he worked for American Commercial Lines as a senior executive. During this time, the Motor Vessel Tom Behringer was christened in his honor. He finished his career with the Greater Clark County school system as a home school support worker for Corden Porter School. He was an avid outdoorsman and excelled at woodworking. He volunteered with the Red Cross Pet Therapy program with his beloved dog, Angus. He was a member of the Jeffersonville Disciples of Christ Church.
Mr Behringer is survived by his wife, Judith Ramsey Behringer; children Thomas D Behringer, Deanna D Maxwell and her husband, Max; Daniel J Behringer and his wife, Kelly; brother David Behringer and his wife Sharon; sisters Janice Carmichael and her husband Michael, and Mary Jones, eight grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Disciples of Christ Church or First Presbyterian Church, both of Jeffersonville, or the Jeffersonville American Red Cross Pet Therapy Program.
