David “Dave” Bruce Harris, of Clarksville, IN, passed away peacefully at the age of 71. He was deeply cherished and will be profoundly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
Born in Louisville, Kentucky, Dave proudly served his country with honor and distinction in the United States Air Force. He was particularly proud of his service in Italy during his time in the Air Force, where he embraced the culture and formed lasting memories.
After his military service, Dave pursued a successful career as a controls engineer, retiring after many years of dedicated work. He was a man of many passions, finding joy in being a veteran and relishing the moments when strangers would thank him for his service, brightening his day.
A lover of science fiction, Dave enjoyed immersing himself in a good book or movie. He also found solace and joy in boating on the Ohio River, a member of the Sunnyside Boat Club in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
One of the highlights of Dave’s life was his participation in the Honor Flight, an experience that filled him with pride and gratitude. His love for his country, his sense of duty, and his kind-hearted nature touched the lives of many.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby and James Arnold.
He is survived by his aunt and uncle, Margie and Joe Ramsey, who lovingly influenced him as a young boy and throughout his life.
Dave is survived by his loving wife, Becky Harris; three children, Scotty Harris (Tia), Raina Sharpe, David Sharpe; a sister, Sharon Brotge (Rodney).
Per Dave’s wishes, cremation was chosen and a Celebration of Life will be held in the near future. Dave will be laid to rest in New Albany National Cemetery, 1943 Ekin Avenue, New Albany, IN, on May 10, 2024 at 1:30 PM. Military honors will be performed by the United States Air Force.
