Doris S. (Saunders) Bender

Doris S. Bender, of Clarksville, IN was called to her heavenly home on Sunday, November 24, 2019 at Westminster Village, with her loving husband Orris Bender by her side. Scott Funeral Home has been entrusted with her care.

Her funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 2, 2019 at Eastside Christian Church, 2319 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville, IN, with burial to follow at Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville, KY. Visitation for Doris will be held on Sunday, December 1, from 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville, IN, and on Monday from 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM at the church.

Doris was daughter of the late Joseph and Leona Saunders. She was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, and an active member of Eastside Christian Church, with many important responsibilities including Baptism Coordinator and participation in Rebekah Circle. Her community involvements included numerous officer positions in Clarksville Kiwanis and Clarksville Historical Society. Notable awards include commission as a Kentucky Colonel, and Floyd County Extension 1977 -1978 Homemaker of the Year.

Along with her parents, Doris is preceded in death by her former husband, Robert T. Rigsby.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Orris Bender of Clarksville, IN; brother, Joseph Daniel "JD" Saunders and his wife Judie of Vestaburg, MI; stepsons Tim Bender and his wife Gail of Okemos, MI, Michael Bender and his wife Denise of Denver, CO, David Bender and his wife Gail of Saginaw, MI, and Jeffrey Bender and his wife Alisha of Redondo Beach, CA; nephews Jeffery Saunders and his wife Pam of St Louis, MI, and Joel Saunders and his wife Kimberly of Ft Wayne, IN; and niece Jennifer Porch and her husband Curtis of Seymour, TN.
