Laura Virginia Schwender

Laura V. Lamke Schwender of Clarksville, Indiana, passed away January 9, 2020 at the age of 82.

A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 13, 2020 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Clarksville, Indiana, with urn burial to follow at St. Anthony Cemetery in Jeffersonville, Indiana.  Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10 to 11 AM at the church. 

She was survived by her husband of 55 years, William A. Schwender; son Phillip Schwender; daughter Liz Schwender Farris (Trent Farris); grandchildren Jacquelyn and Chase Farris; sister Barbara Joyce Lamke Denny and brother Chester Lamke.

Laura was born October 21, 1937 to the late Chester Lamke and Norma Willcox Lamke of New Albany, Indiana.

After raising her family, Laura retired as Secretary of St. Anthony School in 1994. She remained very active at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church where she had been a member since 1969.  In 1988 she started The Friendship Committee at Church, which provided food for families that had lost loved ones.  She was loved by many and never met a stranger.  She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.

Donations can be made to St. Anthony School in Memory of Laura.  Envelopes will be available at the memorial service.
