Alfred Allen Stallworth, affectionately known as “Bo”, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2024, after a long bout with failing health.
Alfred was born on May 27, 1939, to Roscoe and Rosa Lee Walker Stallworth in Garland, Conecuh County, Alabama.
In 1958, Alfred met Carlean Virginia Reed and the two married on October 9, 1959 in Mobile, Alabama. From their union, Alfred and Carlean went on to have five (5) children: Alfreda Stallworth, Alfred “Jerome” Stallworth, Rozeta Stallworth, Valerie Stallworth, and Kevin Dwayne Stallworth. He and Carlean helped raise their granddaughter Amber Wilson, after the passing of her mother/their daughter, Valerie.
Alfred worked at the ICI Americas, Inc. at the Indiana Army Ammunition Plant in Charlestown, IN until it closed. He later was employed by and worked at International Harvester in Louisville, KY until its closing in 1983, and remained on standby until he officially retired. Alfred, being the worker that he was, continued to work at various employers until he retired from New Hope Services in Jeffersonville, IN, where he retired for the last time. Alfred was a faithful member who served as bus driver, Trustee Board member, and continued as custodian and lawn attendant at Gilt Edge Baptist Church in Jeffersonville, IN, until his health failed.
Alfred was predeceased by parents Roscoe and Rosa Lee Stallworth, daughter Valerie L. Wilson, sister and only sibling, Helen M. Barney. He leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Carlean Stallworth of Jeffersonville, IN, two sons, Alfred (Rhonda) Stallworth of Fort Wayne, IN and Kevin Stallworth of Jeffersonville, IN; two daughters, Alfreda McGee of Jeffersonville, IN and Rozeta (Anthony) Beasley of Fort Wayne, IN; eight (8) grandchildren, ten (10) great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; family and friends.
Visitation will be held 9-11 a.m. Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Gilt Edge Baptist Church, 1713 D.L. Motley Jr. Way, – Jeffersonville. Funeral services will be celebrated at the conclusion of receiving hours, 11 a.m. Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Gilt Edge Baptist Church, with interment to follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery.
