Bertha Jane "BJ" Wheeler-Owen, 95, of Jeffersonville went to meet her Heavenly Father May 13, 2026. Born on January 17, 1931, Bertha devoted much of her life caring for others. She spent 31 years with Greater Clark Schools, much of which serving as the cafeteria supervisor at Thomas Jefferson Elementary. Cooking for others was her expression of love, with other hobbies including camping, fishing, crocheting and looking after her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Myrtle Wheeler of Mt. Washington, Kentucky, brother, C. Frank Wheeler, her husband of 40 years, Cecil "Buck" Owen, and children, Sheila Gayle Adams, Todd William Owen and her son-in-law, Skip Rogers.
She is survived by her children, Cheryl Owen-Rogers (Skip), Ernest Lyle Owen (Mary), Dee Dee Nunn, and Cindy Niehaus-Owen (Todd), grandchildren, Owen Rogers (Carmela), Grant Rogers (Sally), Melinda Adams-Graf (Jason), Megan Adams-Trout (Chris), Robbie Woodruff (Danelle), Phillip Woodruff (Brittany), Matt Owen (Kelly) and Nicholas Owen, as well as fourteen Great-Grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 17, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Scott Funeral Home in Jeffersonville, Indiana, and from 10:00 am until 11:00 on Monday, May 18, 2026 with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 at the funeral home. Burial and graveside service will be follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery.
