Betty Eugenia Sheegog, 95, born to the late George and Ann Plaiss on January 4, 1928, in New Albany, Indiana, peacefully passed away Monday, October 16, 2023. Betty will forever be cherished as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.
Betty's life was a testament to enduring love and the American dream. She and her beloved husband, David E. Sheegog, embarked on their journey together immediately following his return from World War II. Their enduring commitment captured the essence of the “Greatest Generation”, filled with love, resilience, and unwavering dedication. Together they enjoyed time spent dancing and socializing with the American Legion Post in New Albany.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, David E. Sheegog; son, David “Mike” Sheegog”; and her five siblings.
Survivors include her children, Cherry Glass (Rich), Marty Sheegog, and Pam Flynn (Mike); grandchildren, Wes Story, Yvonne Copler, Wade Nale, Elizabeth Smart, Michael Sheegog, Marty Sheegog Jr., Chris Nale, and Ben Glass; 15 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, October 20, 2023, at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway – Jeffersonville. Funeral services in her honor will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, October 21, 2023, at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery.
