With hearts full of love and gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we announce the peaceful passing of Beverly Frey on July 23, 2025, in Georgetown, Indiana, surrounded by the warmth of her cherished family. She was 80 years old.
Born on August 10, 1944, in Sullivan, Indiana, Beverly grew up with a spark that would light up every room she entered—a spirit marked by sass, humor, and a deep love for life’s simple joys. She had a laugh that made you feel like you were home and a heart that welcomed everyone she met.
Beverly was a passionate and dedicated educator for over 42 years, beginning her career in Terre Haute, Indiana, and continuing at Spring Hill Elementary and Jonathan Jennings Elementary. Her classroom was more than a place to learn—it was a place to grow, to be seen, and to be loved. She touched countless lives, inspiring students with her warmth, creativity, and fierce belief in their potential. Her legacy as a teacher will echo for generations.
Outside the classroom, Beverly was a woman of many loves. She adored Elvis Presley, found joy in scrapbooking memories, and treasured time spent with her family. She especially cherished her Friday night dinners with her dear friend Virginia Morman and her dearest friend of over 50 years, Charlotte Perrin—traditions built on laughter, loyalty, and a lifetime of shared stories.
Beverly is survived by her loving children, Michael Frey and Angela Frey; her beloved granddaughters, Brittany Fetz (David) and Hayley Watt (Josh Moody), her devoted brother, Ron Thornburgh (Jeanette), 4 great-grandchildren, her chosen family Charlotte Perrin, Ashley Perrin Bledsoe (Todd), Eliza and Anderson Bledsoe, and a wide circle of extended family, friends, former students, and colleagues who will miss her deeply. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Frey, and her parents, Arthur and Rose Thornburgh.
A visitation to honor Beverly’s life will be held on what would have been Bev’s 81st birthday, Sunday, August 10, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 5:30 p.m. at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville, Indiana 47130.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Waters of Georgetown for caring for and loving Bev.
In Beverly’s memory, let us continue to find joy in everyday moments, to laugh loudly, love deeply, and never underestimate the power of a great teacher. Her legacy lives on in every heart she touched.
“To teach is to touch a life forever.” Beverly did just that—with grace, humor, and an unshakable belief in the goodness of others.
