Carol Ann Finkle, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2025, in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Born on July 4, 1966, in Freeport, New York, she brought the warmth and spark of Independence Day into the lives of all who knew her.
Carol was the daughter of the late John Duffey and Carol Gremple Ashdown, and from an early age, she carried a deep love for the simple joys in life. She found happiness in a game of bingo, a cold Pepsi in hand, the sound of waves while swimming, and the comfort of family meals filled with laughter and seafood.
A compassionate animal lover, Carol never met a creature she didn’t adore—her gentle spirit and warm heart were evident in every furry friend she welcomed into her home. But above all, Carol lived for her family. She was a devoted wife to her loving husband of 28 years, Joseph Finkle, and a proud mother to Kristine Finkle (Alex Raffa), Lisa Duffey Finkle, and John Jacob Dilbert.
Her legacy lives on through her cherished grandchildren—Jade Duffey-Finkle, Rose Miller, and Breileyn Eckert—who will forever carry her stories and love in their hearts. Carol is also survived by her sister, Lori Thornton (Hank), and brother, John Duffey Jr. (Yvonne), as well as her treasured nieces and nephews: Rachel Duffey-Ortel, Amber Kirby (Derek), Frank Cernik (Cati), and Stacee Duffey. She leaves behind her aunt, Harriet Grempel, uncle, Charlie Grempel, and her lifelong childhood friend, Joyce Majczuk, along with a community of devoted bingo friends and family who brought her so much joy. She is preceded in death by her step-father, Charles Ashdown.
While no services are planned, her loved ones find comfort in knowing she is at peace and will continue to live on in their memories and stories.
Her light remains—bright, beautiful, and everlasting.
