Carolyn Pierce Miller was one of 13 children born to William and Pearlee Pierce on December 15, 1934 in Lebanon, KY and lived a wonderfully full life until she passed away peacefully in New Albany, IN on August 27, 2024 where her great-granddaughter was quietly praying over her.
Carolyn was married to Robert Miller, Sr. for 65 years. They spent the majority of their married years living in Jeffersonville, IN, where their grandchildren enjoyed riding tricycles under the carport.
Carolyn worked as a cafeteria manager for several schools in the Greater Clark school district. She was also a dedicated member of her Sunday School class at First Southern Baptist Church in Clarksville, Indiana. She always looked forward to her sister sleepover weekends. She loved to read and play cards. Not only did she regularly play cards at her assisted living home, but she also taught her grandchildren and great-grandchildren many card games where they learned that she showed no mercy!
Carolyn will be remembered by her family for many things, one of which is the tradition of her famous homemade cracker “dumplins” at Thanksgiving. We will also remember on vacation how Granny liked to sneak away and turn the thermostat up to 75°.
Carolyn was proceeded in death by her husband, Robert Miller, Sr., daughter Carol Denise Miller, siblings: J.L. Pierce, Cecil Pierce, Elizabeth Gordon, Evelyn Hall, Samuel Pierce, Geraldine Jones, Alma Jane Denney, great-granddaughter Tabitha Finley, and grandson-in-law John Thomas. She is survived by son Robert Miller, Jr. (Robin), Jeffersonville, IN, daughter Frances Shepherd (Larry), New Albany, IN, and son Donald Miller (Teresa), Acworth, GA, siblings: Lula Mae Farmer, Campbellsville, KY, Verna Jean McDaniel, David Pierce, both of Charlestown, IN, her 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
