Charles Ray Alexander, age 77, of Borden, Indiana, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2025, in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Born October 22, 1947, in Borden to the late Wallace Alexander and Dorothy Brown, Charles was a proud lifelong resident of his hometown.
A U.S. Army veteran, Charles honorably served with the First Infantry Division during the Vietnam War. After returning home, he spent his career as a dedicated truck driver, traveling many miles but always rooted in Borden, where he found comfort and joy sitting on his front porch watching traffic roll by on Highway 60.
Charles had a deep love for his family, American-made cars, and the thrill of NASCAR racing. He found the greatest happiness in time spent with loved ones, cherishing every moment with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Patricia Mull, and an infant brother.
Charles is survived by his loving wife, Verbal Alexander; sons Robert E. Alexander (Jennifer) and William Joseph Farnsley; stepdaughter Natasha Finn (Jeremy); grandchildren Ava Finn, Sophia Finn, Grace Finn, Sydney Alexander, Nigel Farnsley, and Tiffany Farnsley; brother William Alexander (Michelle); sister Peggy Lamoureaux (Doug); brother-in-law Norman Alan Hawkins; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will miss him dearly.
In accordance with his wishes, the family has chosen cremation. A private memorial will be held at a later date to honor his life and legacy.
Charles will be remembered for his quiet strength, steady presence, and unwavering love for the people and places he held dear.
