Charles Clifton Singleton, Jr.

Charles Clifton Singleton, Jr., age 59 of Jeffersonville, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of service, strength, generosity, and unwavering love for family.  Born to the late Wilma Jean (Shueman) & Charles Clifton Singleton, Sr., Charles lived a life defined by honor and dedication. A proud United States Army retiree, he served his country with distinction as a member of the Special Forces for many years. His patriotism was not simply a duty—it was a calling. He carried the values of courage, sacrifice, and integrity throughout every chapter of his life, earning the respect and admiration of all who knew him.

Following his military career, Charles continued his service to others through his work with the Census Bureau and as a longtime member of Prime Hall Masonic Lodge. Whether in uniform, at work, or within his community, he remained a man committed to making a difference.  While Charles proudly served his nation, his greatest devotion was always reserved for his family. He was a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, loyal friend, and dependable neighbor. For twenty-two years, he shared a beautiful life with his beloved wife, Valerie Marie Singleton. Together they built a home filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories.

Charles was his family's greatest cheerleader. He encouraged his son, Tre, and daughter, Cadence Chante, in every endeavor, always offering wisdom, support, and a steady hand. His grandson, Atlas, was the apple of his eye and brought him immeasurable joy. Nothing made Charles smile more than spending time with his family and watching those he loved grow and succeed.

Known affectionately as the family's "Mr. Fix It," Charles possessed an extraordinary ability to repair just about anything. Whether it was a leaky faucet, a home improvement project, or a car in need of attention, he approached every challenge with confidence and determination. More importantly, he never hesitated to share those talents with others. If a neighbor, friend, or stranger needed help, Charles was there—often refusing any payment because helping people was simply who he was.  His servant's heart was one of his defining qualities. He gave freely of his time, talents, and energy, not seeking recognition, but finding fulfillment in making life easier for others. His kindness left a lasting impression on countless lives.  Charles also knew how to enjoy life. As an avid basketball fan, he could often be found cheering enthusiastically for his favorite teams, whether from the comfort of his favorite chair or from the excitement of the stadium seats. His passion for the game was matched only by his passion for the people he loved.  In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his beloved aunt, Pauline Berdine.

Charles leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Valerie Marie Singleton; his son, Tre Singleton; his daughter, Cadence Chante Singleton; his treasured grandson, Atlas; his dearest friend and faithful companion of many decades, John Smith; his mother-in-law, Linda Crawford; sister-in-law, Aneshia Nunley; nephew, Kingston Martin; a host of family and friends; and his sweet dog, Savannah, who never missed an opportunity to curl up beside him and keep him company.

Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we celebrate a life well lived—a life marked by service to country, devotion to family, loyalty to friends, and compassion for all. Charles Clifton Singleton, Jr. was a true patriot, a gentleman, a mentor, and a friend. His example will continue to inspire those who were blessed to know him.  As we honor his memory, we remember a man who never sought praise but earned it, who never turned away someone in need, and who loved deeply and generously. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the lives he touched, and the countless acts of kindness that will never be forgotten.

Masonic Services will be held at 1:30PM on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at Scott Funeral Home (2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville). A time of Family Remembrance will follow. Visitation will be held from Noon until service time at the funeral home on Saturday.
