Cheryl Sue Mooney, 79, of Charlestown, Indiana, formerly of Lynnville, Indiana, passed away peacefully, Friday, March 28, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, dedication, and love.
Born in Lynnville, Indiana, to the late Prentice and Leta Barker, Cheryl’s life was marked by an unwavering commitment to caring for others. As a registered nurse, she found her true calling, a profession that was not just a career but a reflection of her heart. Her meticulous attention to detail and deep empathy made her an exceptional caregiver, touching the lives of countless patients and their families.
Beyond her work, Cheryl was a woman of many passions. A voracious reader, she found solace and adventure within the pages of her favorite books. She had a special place in her heart for animals, cherishing their companionship and the joy they brought into her life.
Cheryl is survived by her beloved daughter, Melissa Mooney of Largo, Florida; her siblings, Bob Barker of Evansville, Indiana, Jan Yager of Lynnville, Indiana, Peggy Ashby of Apple Valley, California, Sandra Heathcock of Chicago, Illinois, and Keith Barker of Corydon, Indiana. She also leaves behind her cherished nieces, Sue Nix and Lora Nix, both of Jeffersonville, Indiana, whose love and presence enriched her life.
Honoring her wishes, cremation was chosen, and Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, has been entrusted with arrangements. Cheryl’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
