Christine Coup Obituary

Christine Marie Coup, a radiant soul who never met a stranger and brought warmth wherever she went, passed away peacefully in Louisville, Kentucky, on June 9, 2025. She was 61 years old.

Born on May 1, 1964, in Bee, Texas, Christine was the beloved daughter of the late Ronald Lee Ritz and Patricia Roark. As the eldest of five children, she carried a deep sense of responsibility, love, and loyalty to her family that stayed with her throughout her life. Christine embraced her role as a wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend with an open heart, and she was a guiding light for those who knew and loved her.

Christine had a deep appreciation for life’s simple joys—sunflowers in full bloom, the sound of Shania Twain playing on the radio, and the peace of knitting and crocheting, through which she created countless handmade gifts filled with love. A tireless worker and a true people person, she had a gift for making anyone feel at home in her presence.

She had a special place in her heart for her family, especially her nieces and nephews, whom she adored. Her kindness, sense of humor, and unwavering support will remain cherished memories to all who were fortunate enough to know her. Christine also carried her spirit of generosity beyond this life—through her decision to be an organ donor, she gave the beautiful gift of life to several individuals, a final act of selflessness that perfectly embodied the way she lived.

Christine is survived by her loving sister, Trish Segall Brading (Josh), and her devoted brother, Chance Shane Ritz. She also leaves behind her beloved aunt, Deborah Alles Chapman; nieces and nephews, Michael Kazlo, Julia Wilson (Chris), Glynn Ritz, T.J. Wilson, Jenna Brading Hamby (Caleb), Isabelle Brading, Taylor Brading, and Colton Brading; and great-niece and nephew, Charlotte Bell, Silas Michael Hamby and Abigail Kazlo, longtime companion, Bob Walters and her ex-husband, Charlie Coup.

She is reunited in peace with her grandparents, Jessie Ritz Alles and Claude Peter Ritz; her sisters, Tracey Lies and Veronica Ritz Wilson; and her nephew, Daylyn Ritz.

Though no services are currently planned, Christine’s memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved her. Her laughter, kindness, and unwavering love will never be forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages acts of kindness in Christine’s memory—help a stranger, share a smile, or give freely, just as she did.
