Darrell Ray Sanders

Darrell Ray Sanders, 67, of Jeffersonville, IN, passed away on January 7, 2022 surrounded by family at University of Louisville Hospital. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville, IN.  Visitation will be held from 1 to 8 PM on Tuesday and after 10 AM on Wednesday at the funeral home. 

Darrell was born in Louisville, KY on November 12, 1954 and graduated from Bullitt Central High School in 1972.  He married Suzy Wermeister on May 29, 1976 in Jeffersonville, IN.  He was a farrier by trade for 50 years, and an avid horseman his entire life. 

He was preceded in death by parents, Hobert and Bettie Sanders; and brother, David Sanders.

Darrell is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Suzy Sanders; daughters, Sara McCabe (Jimmy), and Stacey Sanders; three grandchildren, Dexter McCabe, Brennan McCabe, and Stella Harmon; Bonnie Jacobs (Earl), Edward Sanders (Glenda), Leon Sanders, Patsy Appleford (Gary), and Bruce Sanders (Vera); and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and beloved pets and farm animals. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Derby City Horseshoeing Association, 9508 Charlestown New Market Road, Charlestown, IN 47111.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral services.
