David Flint Sr., a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2026, in New Albany, Indiana, at the age of 78. Born on January 24, 1948, in Indianapolis, Indiana, David lived a life defined by service, strength, humor, and an unwavering dedication to the people he loved.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, David answered his country’s call with courage and honor, serving two tours during the Vietnam War. Over the course of ten years in the Army, he distinguished himself as a decorated veteran, earning the respect of his fellow soldiers and his community. His legacy of service was formally recognized in his hometown of Connersville, Indiana, where a plaque in the courthouse stands as a lasting tribute to his sacrifice and commitment.
Following his military service, David built a life rooted in hard work and skill. A Ford-certified mechanic and long-distance truck driver, he took pride in honest labor and a job well done. Known as a true handyman, there was little he couldn’t fix—and even more he was willing to teach. Whether repairing an engine, lending a hand on a project, or guiding someone through a challenge, David found joy in helping others and sharing what he knew.
David had a lifelong passion for cars, especially classic and project vehicles. He also enjoyed collecting model cars, a hobby that reflected both his craftsmanship and his appreciation for detail. His garage, like his home, was a place of creativity, storytelling, and connection.
He will be remembered for his quick wit, his rich storytelling, and the warmth he brought into every room. David was deeply family-oriented, the kind of man who never missed an important moment. He showed up—not just physically, but fully present—ready to support, fix, teach, or simply be there.
At the heart of his life was his beloved wife, Connie. Some of David’s happiest moments were the quietest ones, spent side by side with her, relaxing in bed and watching television—simple, cherished routines that spoke volumes about their love. He also shared a special bond with his loyal dog, Coco, who brought him comfort, companionship, and joy throughout the years.
David is survived by his loving wife, Connie Bowers-Flint; his children, David M. Flint, David P. Flint Jr., and John “Joey” Flint (Joshua); and his stepchildren, Charles Keenan (Kammie), Kimberly Keenan, and Sheila Sanders. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, kindness, and resilience that will live on through all who knew him.
David Flint Sr. was, in every sense, a hometown hero—not only for his service to his country, but for the countless ways he showed up for his family, friends, and community. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
