Debra Polston Obituary

Debra Ann (Waddell) Polston, age 67 of Jeffersonville, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, creativity, and deep love for the people who filled her life with joy.  Born to the late William B. and Doris (Piatt) Waddell, Debra grew up with a caring spirit that would guide her throughout her life. For many years, she faithfully served others as a CNA at St. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital. Her work was more than a job—it was a calling. With gentle hands and a compassionate heart, Debra cared for her patients with dignity, kindness, and patience, often bringing comfort during life’s most difficult moments.

Debra’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. A devoted member of Eastern Heights Baptist Church, she was a proud born-again Christian who loved her Jesus with all her heart. She joyfully lifted her voice in the church choir and gave thanks daily for the many blessings God had placed in her life—especially the family and friends she cherished so dearly.

At home, Debra delighted in life’s simple pleasures. She loved settling in with her favorite classic television shows and never missed an episode of Mr. Ed, The Waltons, The Brady Bunch, Quantum Leap, and most recently, Outlander!  An avid reader, she always had a book nearby and was constantly eager to learn something new. Whether it was a timeless story or a grand adventure on the page, Debra’s curious mind and love of learning never faded.  She was also an anointed artist whose creative spirit shone through every drawing she made. Inspired by the beauty of nature, Debra loved capturing lovely scenes and quiet moments through her art. She found peace outdoors—feeling the warm sunshine on her face, hiking scenic trails, and traveling to the Smoky Mountains, where the beauty of God’s creation filled her heart with joy.

Family meant everything to Debra, and she was an especially wonderful aunt to her many nieces and nephews. To them, she was simply “Aunt Debra,” the one who hosted unforgettable slumber parties and cozy movie nights full of loving hugs and giggles. Those memories will forever remain a treasured part of their childhoods.  Above all else, Debra shared a beautiful 46-year love story with her devoted husband, Michael Polston. Their marriage was built on faith, friendship, and unwavering devotion—a bond that stood strong through every season of life.

In addition to her parents, Debra was preceded in death by her sister, Marlene Waddell; her brother, Robert Waddell; and her mother-in-law, Eleanor Polston.  Left to cherish her memory are her loving and devoted husband of 46 years, Michael Polston; her sisters, Bonnie Mae Coffman and Anita Ford; her father-in-law, Andrew Polston; her brothers-in-law, David Polston (Lee) and Daniel Polston (Stacia); and her beloved nieces and nephews: Kelly, Jenny, Jack, Hank, Ford, Kyra, Olivia (Jordan), Andrew, and Tyler, all of whom were blessed by her warmth, encouragement, and endless love.

A celebration of Debra’s life will be held at 12:00 Noon on Friday, March 13, 2026, at Eastern Heights Baptist Church (4202 Helen Road, Jeffersonville), officiated by Pastor Chris Gustafson. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Scott Funeral Home (2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville), and from 11:00 AM until the time of service on Friday at the church.

Committal Services for Debra will be held 12:30 PM on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at the VA Cemetery Central (2501 N Dixie Blvd, Radcliff, KY 40160).

Though Debra’s earthly journey has come to an end, those who loved her find comfort in knowing she is now singing in Heaven’s choir, reunited with loved ones, and resting in the eternal peace of her Savior. Her kindness, creativity, and steadfast faith will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
