Debra Taylor Obituary

Debra Ranee Taylor, age 66, entered eternal peace on January 2, 2026, when she was joyfully reunited with her beloved mother, Roberta, in the presence of her Savior, Jesus Christ. Born in Jeffersonville, Indiana, Debbie was the daughter of the late Raymond Harrison and Roberta Smith-Newbolt, and she lived a life defined by love, laughter, creativity, and deep connection to those around her.

Debbie had a special gift for making something beautiful out of anything. Known for her thriftiness and creativity, she could transform any space into a warm and welcoming home. She especially loved decorating and celebrating holidays, often going all out with elaborate themes and costumes that brought joy and smiles to family, friends, and neighbors alike.

She embraced life with enthusiasm—whether enjoying an occasional visit to the bingo hall, browsing the aisles of her favorite Goodwill stores, dancing whenever the opportunity arose, or simply spending time with the people she loved most. Debbie had a way of making everyone feel like family, and it was no surprise that nearly everyone who came into contact with her affectionately called her “Mamaw” or “Aunt Debbie.” Her joyful spirit, humor, and open heart left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Above all else, Debbie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. Her family was the center of her world, and she poured her heart into nurturing each generation with unconditional love, laughter, and care. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched and the memories she created.

Debbie is survived by the love of her life and her husband of 30 years, Darrol Taylor Sr.; her children, Leslie Martin, Lavar Harrison, and Lance Harrison; her stepchildren, Marja Furman and Darrol Taylor Jr. (Amber); her grandchildren, Kelsey (Terrace), Haley (Matt), Breanna (Porter), Alazea, Ashlyn, Dezmond, Kaitlyn, Lance, Jazlyn, Amonni, Amonte, Levi, Anailyn, Cameron, Promise, Brilliant, NaShya, Jacob, Diamond, and Jade; her great-grandchildren, Kensley, Marley, Mayley, Malani, and Lathan; her siblings, Kathy, Lisa (Roscoe), Kelly, and Raymond; her father-in-law, Charles; her sisters-in-law, Lisa and Gwen; and many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Harrison and Roberta Smith-Newbolt, and her siblings, Karen Harrison, Richard, and Pamela Newbolt.

In honoring Debbie’s wishes, the family will hold a private visitation and service. A Celebration of Life will be held at Wyatt Hall, Jeffersonville, 61 Louise Street, and all are welcome to come together to celebrate and honor her life. Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, has been entrusted with arrangements.
