Diann Murphy, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend to all, passed away on March 3rd, 2024, at her home in Jeffersonville, IN. She was born on May 24th, 1947, to the late Bill and Martha Vissing. Diann graduated from Indiana University Southeast with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. She found great fulfillment working as a controller at Century Industries for 25 years.
The most important calling in Diann’s life was being a mother and a grandmother. Every day she infused their lives with boundless joy, but the best memories were made in or around the water. She was raised on the Ohio River and followed in her parent’s footsteps to give her family the same experiences she had. This could be seen through her time and effort as a member of the Clark County Casting and Conservation Club, the trips to the riverside to search for shells and rocks with her grandkids, or the simple moments when the family would gather on the back patio to watch the boats pass by.
Diann also possessed a remarkable knack for gardening and enjoyed spending time in nature. She is perhaps most remembered for her ability to take something ordinary and give it new life. Whether this be in her yard, her hobby as a seamstress, or the furniture she repurposed, the beauty was evident in her work. Finally, Diann was a lover of all animals. She never met a furry friend she didn’t like, and there’s no doubt her best bud, Chloey, was waiting for her on the other side.
Diann is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Terrence (Terry) Murphy; daughters, Charlotte Papsdorf (Cliff), Christine (Christy) Conrad (Jason); son, Alex Murphy (Kelly); grandchildren, Samuel Conrad (Marissa), Alexandria Conrad, Jackson Murphy, Katelyn Murphy, Caroline Murphy, Sarah Papsdorf, Amy Papsdorf; siblings, JoAnn Galligan, Mike Vissing, Kathy Young (Richard), Gary Jo Vissing (Robin), Janet Tomazin (Rick); sisters-in-law, Diane Murphy and Carla Wolff (Tom). Additionally, she is survived by her cat, Zeus, who brought her immense joy and her devoted caretakers Rene, Mary, and Ramada who were with her until the end.
A visitation for Diann will be held on March 7th, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM with a memorial service at 1:00 PM at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the CCCC Club Foundation or an organization of your choice.
