Donald Simms Obituary

Donald Wayne Simms, age 63 of Jeffersonville, passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, service, and unwavering devotion to the people he loved. A proud veteran, Donald faithfully served his country in the United States Army. During Desert Storm, his service carried him to the far corners of the world—including Korea and Egypt—where he stood with courage, honor, and dedication.

For more than forty years, Donald was a loyal member of the Jeffersonville Fraternal Order of Eagles #1527, where he formed countless friendships and shared in the camaraderie he valued so deeply. He was a man who knew how to enjoy life: whether he was playing a round of golf, listening to music, sharing laughs over an ice-cold Bud Lite, or simply soaking up time with friends. Donald had a gift for lighting up any room, always ready with a story, a joke, or a smile that pulled everyone in.

A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Donald’s heart belonged to his family above all else. He was happiest when surrounded by his grandbabies, laughing, playing, and soaking in every moment with them. He was the first to entertain a crowd and the one everyone could count on to bring joy to any gathering.  Donald was a true jack of all trades—great with his hands and talented beyond measure. If it had an engine, he could fix it. From mowers to washing machines to cars, he was the one the family called, and he never failed to come through.

Donald was preceded in death by his mother, Vickie Sue (Enlow) Stivers, and his brother, Michael Simms. He is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Brenda Kaye Simms; his sons, Jeremy Simms & Daniel Simms (Amanda), and daughter, Amanda Simms; his father, Terry Stivers; four cherished grandchildren—Cole Huffman, Presleigh Miller, Alexis Simms, and Caleb Simms; and his sister, Samantha Stivers Killen (Roger). Each of them carries pieces of Donald’s humor, wisdom, strength, and boundless love.

Honoring his wishes, Donald will be cremated. Private memorial services will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are entrusted to Scott Funeral Home.

Donald Wayne Simms leaves behind a life well-lived, filled with loyal service, deep love, and unforgettable laughter. His memory will forever be a blessing to those who knew and loved him.
