Donald "Donnie" Ray Thompson, 60, beloved son, brother, father, and grandfather, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024, in Jeffersonville, Indiana. He was born on February 26, 1964, in Louisville, Kentucky. Donnie was a cherished member of his community, known for his outgoing nature, generous spirit, and unwavering work ethic. Donnie found immense joy in spending time with his family, especially during pool gatherings and cookouts where laughter and love were abundant. He was a devoted father and grandfather, affectionately known as "Paps" to his grandchildren, who brought him endless happiness. An avid sports enthusiast, Donnie had a special passion for IU basketball and could often be found cheering for his favorite team. In his professional life, Donnie was a Licensed Journeyman HVAC Technician, always willing to lend a helping hand and known for his exceptional skills in the field. He took pride in his work and was respected by colleagues and clients alike. Beyond his professional endeavors, Donnie was a proud sponsor and mentor for individuals in recovery, demonstrating his compassionate nature and commitment to helping others. His willingness to listen and offer support left a lasting impact on those he touched. Donnie was also a talented bowler, often showcasing his skills at Eastern Lanes and bringing a competitive spirit to the lanes. His passing leaves a void in the lives of all who knew him, but his memory will forever be cherished. Donnie's legacy of kindness, hard work, and love for his family and community will continue to inspire and uplift those who were fortunate enough to have known him.

Donnie is preceded in death by his daughter, Katie Thompson; and a brother, James "Jimmy" Thompson Jr.

Left to cherish his memory, Donnie is survived by his 5 loving children, Michael Thompson (Shana); Lukas Thompson (Sarah); Josh Thompson, Leah Thompson, and Lynsey Thompson; mother, Virginia Spond; sister, Carla Vanover; 10 grandchildren, Brianna, Kiersten, Karsynn, Kamdynn, Kyndall, Elliott, Penny, Bentley, Henry, and Joshua; 5 nieces/nephews, Christina, Allie, Ashley, Shelby, and Spud; and a host of extended family and close friends.

A funeral service for Mr. Donald "Donnie" Thompson will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Pkwy, Jeffersonville, Indiana. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, from 11 AM to 8 PM, and prior to the funeral service beginning 10 AM, at the funeral home.
