Doris Jean (James) Snelling

Funeral services for Doris Jean (James) Snelling, 79, of Utica, IN will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville, IN with burial to follow in Utica Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 11 AM to 1 PM at the funeral home.  She passed on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 peacefully in her sleep.  Family requests masks and social distancing during services.  The funeral service will be livestreamed on Scott Funeral Home's Facebook Page.  

Doris was born on August 4, 1942 in Jeffersonville, IN, to the late Philmore and Rudella James.  She was a member of the Utica Baptist Church, the Dorcas Missionary Society, and was an active member of the S.O.S. Organization of Utica, IN.

Survivors include her sons, Michael Snelling (Kevin) and Gerald Snelling; siblings, Terry Eddings (Doug) and Janet Clark (Don); son-in-law, Marvin Childress & Kyson; grandchildren, Meredith Jones (Sam); and great-grandchildren, Madelynn Jones and Indy Jones.

Doris was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Jerry Paul Snelling; parents, Philmore and Rudella James; daughter, Cheryl Lynn Childress; siblings, David Ray James, Ethel Russell, Lee Allen James, Barbara Beutel, Clifton James, John James, and Nellie Justice
