Dorothy Marie Werner

Dorothy Marie Werner, 86, passed away peacefully at her residence on November 26, 2020.  She was born on April 25, 1934 to the late Stanley and Ida Stoner. 

A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Pkwy, Jeffersonville, IN, with burial to follow at Prospect Cemetery in Hanover, IN.  The family will receive visitors from 4:00 – 7:00 PM on Monday, November 30 at the funeral home.

Dorothy was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoying reading, gardening, canning vegetables in the summers, fishing.  Dorothy liked living her life her way.  She was the rock of the family, taking care of others before herself.  Dorothy was married 46 years to the love of her life, Lawrence Paul Werner.  Together, they created a home for their children.

Along with her parents and husband, Dorothy is preceded in death by her brothers and sisters.

Left to cherish her memory are her children David Carroll (Margaret), Jane Werner (Steve Schonegg), Bruce Carroll (Debbie), Mike Werner (Dee Brown), Kathy Jo Maymon (Paul) and John Werner; grandchildren Shannon Carroll (Corey), Resa Horton (Rob), Kim Durant (Steve), Chad Werner, Matt Werner (Kristy), Jake Werner (Ashley), Jenna Zeigenbein (Eddie), Courtney Weber, Whitney Maymon, Stacy Ricke (Jim) and Aaron Carroll (Jessica); seventeen great-grandchildren; and an extended host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dorothy’s honor to Prospect Cemetery, 7007 S. Majors Rd, Hanover, IN 47243.
