Dudley Paul Pierce, 82, of Charlestown, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at his home.
Cremation was chosen and Scott Funeral Home has been entrusted with his care. A Celebration of Life will be held from 1-4pm on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at the American Legion Post #204, 412 N. New Albany Avenue, Sellersburg, IN 47172.
Dudley was born on November 25, 1940 in Winchester, Virginia, to the late Dudley Paul Pierce and Mary Edythe Hughes-Pierce. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force while working on B-47 aircraft. Dudley also worked at McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis, Missouri on his favorite aircraft, the F-4 Phantom II. He was a Port Engineer for American Commercial Barge Lines (ACBL) in Jeffersonville for 26 years before retiring. After retirement, Dudley worked for Hanger’s Pharmacy in Jeffersonville and he spent several years of his retired life volunteering on the LST-325 in Evansville, Indiana. He was a member of the Jaycees.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Sonja Pierce; two children, Jennifer Terry, Lee Pierce (Valerie); two brothers, Mike Pierce (Ann), David Pierce (Cheri); five grandchildren, Catherine Pierce (Travis Sanders), Jovan Terry, Daniel Pierce, David Pierce, Christina Greene (Martin); one great granddaughter, Jules Greene; and his faithful companion, Betsy.
