Elsie Lawson Craven passed into God’s Garden on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of love, kindness, and grace.
Elsie was a woman whose heart was devoted to caring for others. She spent many of her days tending to the elderly, offering comfort, compassion, and companionship to those in need. Her love for children was just as evident, as she delighted in their presence and cherished every moment spent with them. Elsie possessed a deeply understanding nature, one that reflected a quiet strength and a truly remarkable spirit.
A gifted cook, Elsie found joy in her kitchen, where she lovingly prepared meals for her family each night. Her home was always open, and there was never a shortage of food or warmth for anyone who stopped by. She especially cherished cooking for her beloved late husband, Marshall, expressing her love through every dish she made.
Elsie’s greatest devotion was to her family. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Pamela Alexander, and son-in-law, Keith Alexander, with whom she shared many treasured days. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Jennifer Whalen (Jason), Trisha Collett (Jason); six great grandchildren; Chelsea Lowe (Al), Gary Collett, Alexander Whalen, Olivia Collett, and Jenna Whalen, each of whom brought immense joy to her life. She is also survived by her dear sister, Laverne Taylor.
Visitation will be held 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2026, and the next day from 10 a.m. until service time at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville. Funeral services will be celebrated Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at the funeral home at 1 p.m., with entombment to follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery.
