Erich Von Winnecke, Sr

Erich Von Winnecke, Sr., 73, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 15, 2025.

Born in Jeffersonville to the late William and Floy Winnecke, Erich lived a life marked by honor, courage, and deep devotion to those he loved. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he was awarded the Purple Heart for his bravery and sacrifice. His legacy of patriotism and noble character continued well beyond his military service, guiding the way he lived and loved. 

Erich had a strong dedication to his faith in the Lord, reading his Bible daily. He strived to get closer to the example that Jesus set, teaching the values of unconditional love and forgiveness to his children throughout his life. 

Erich was an entrepreneur at heart. He found great fulfillment working with his home based internet business, where his creativity and vision thrived. Yet, it was his role as a father and grandfather that brought him the greatest joy. To his family and friends, he will forever be remembered as a loyal, kind, and devoted Dad, Grandad, Brother, and Friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Winnecke & Floy (Galloway) Winnecke, and his sisters; Carol Winnecke, Mica Lee Winnecke, and Pamela Winnecke-Ammon.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Erich Von Winnecke, Jr. (Carri), Vanessa Winnecke, Veronica Sanders (Tommy), Bryce Winnecke, Casey Winnecke, and Jesse Winnecke; grandchildren, Mira Nelson, Chloe Winnecke, Eyan Winnecke, and Trey Sanders; sisters, LaVerne Schlensker (Leo), Judy Phillips (Terry), and Joy Melton; along with his former wives and dear friends, Anni Winnecke and Becky Henault.

The family has honored Erich’s wishes for cremation. A time for family and friends to gather will be held from 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2025, until the service at Scott Funeral Home – Jeffersonville. A memorial celebration of Erich’s life will follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Erich’s life was one of love, service, faith, and legacy. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
