Esther Marie Rivera, born on July 19, 1952, peacefully passed away on February 12, 2025. She lived a long and eventful life, full of stories worthy of several novels, but her greatest and most cherished roles were that of a devoted mother and grandmother.
Esther was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Nicholle Rivera. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her surviving daughter, Theresa Wilbert; her cherished grandchildren: Jerrica, Chris, Brandon, Aaron, Anthony, Alyssa, Camyle, Jeramiah, Destiny, Noah, Collin, and Nicky; her 19 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was also one of six siblings, forming a deep bond with her family throughout her life.
She found joy in the simple pleasures of life—sitting outside with a warm cup of coffee, reading her Bible, and tending to her garden. She loved traveling, and spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
A free-spirited, independent, and determined woman, Esther was known for her resilience and generosity. Her home was always open to anyone in need, and she never hesitated to lend a helping hand. She faced life’s challenges with strength and never gave up.
A visitation to honor her life will be held at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville, on Tuesday, February 18, from 11 AM to 3 PM.
