Felipe Ortiz Obituary

Felipe Cruz Ortiz, 50, of Jeffersonville, IN, passed away on September 5, 2022 surrounded by his family.  Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at Christ Gospel Church, 2614 E. 10th Street, Jeffersonville, IN, with burial to follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 PM on Friday at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville, IN 47130, and also from 10 AM to 12 PM on Saturday at the church.

Felipe was born on April 19, 1972 in Tlaxiaco Oaxaca, Mexico.

He was preceded in death by his brother Rey Ortiz Cruz.

He is survived by his loving wife, LeJune Ortiz, daughter, Hanna Ortiz (Wyatt Williams fiancé) father Francisco Ortiz and mother Soledad Cruz Ortiz. He is also survived by his brothers, Francisco Jr. (wife Margarita), Jeronimo (wife Carmen), Lucas (wife Lourdes), Gaudencio (wife Olga), Jorge (wife Obdulia) and sisters Maria, Victoria, Olivia (husband Eziquio), Guadalupe (husband Oscar) and sister in law Laurentia. He leaves behind many nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and colleagues. 

Felipe was employed at Global Payment Systems (Heartland) in Jeffersonville, IN for 12 yrs, and worked for US Airways/American Airlines/ Piedmont with various positions for 17 yrs in Wilmington, NC, Chicago, IL, and Louisville, KY.  He was a kind, loving father, son and husband; loved by his family, friends, spiritual church family, colleagues, and neighbors. He was a friend to all and loved by all. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, working in his yard, and spending time with his family and his precious dogs Duke, Coco, and Lily. He was athletic and competed in various running races including a full marathon, and loved biking. He was an active member in his church, serving as a Senior Deacon and Assistant Associate Pastor.

He was a graduate of seminary at Christ Gospel Bible Institute, and formerly pastored Christ Gospel Churches with his wife in Burgaw, NC and Chicago, IL. He also pastored a church in Mexico.  The most beautiful legacy he leaves with us all is knowing that Jesus, his Lord and Savior lovingly held his hand on the journey to his eternal life!

Los Servicios Funerarios serán llevados a cabo a las 12:00 p.m. el Sábado 17 de Septiembre de 2022 en Christ Gospel Church, ubicado en 2614 E. 10th Street, Jeffersonville, IN. Seguido con el sepelio en el Cementerio, Walnut Ridge Cementery. El Velorio será llevado a cabo el Viernes de 3 a 8 PM en la Funeraria, Scott Funeral Home, ubicada en 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville, IN 47130 y también de 10 am a 12 pm el Sábado en la Iglesia.

Felipe nació el 19 de Abril de 1972 en Tlaxiaco, Oaxaca, México. Falleció con anterioridad su hermano Rey Ortiz Cruz.

Le sobreviven su amada esposa LeJune Ortiz, su hija Hanna Ortiz (Wyatt Williams prometido) Padre Francisco Ortiz y su madre Soledad Cruz Ortiz. También le sobreviven sus hermanos, Francisco Jr, (esposa Margarita), Jerónimo (esposa Carmen), Lucas (esposa Lourdes), Gaudencio (esposa Olga) y hermanas Maria, Victoria, Olivia (esposo Eziquio), Guadalupe (esposo Oscar) y cuñada Laurentia. Deja atrás muchos sobrinos, sobrinas, primos, amigos y colegas.

Felipe fue empleado de Global Payment Systems (Heartland) en Jeffersonville, IN por 12 años, y trabajo para US Airways / American Airlines / Piedmont con varios puestos por 17 años en Wilmington, NC, Chicago, IL, y Louisville, KY. Fue un padre y esposo amable y amoroso; amado por su familia, amigos, familia espiritual en su Iglesia, colegas y vecinos. Fue amigo para todos y amado por todos. Amaba viajar, jardinería, trabajar en su jardín, pasar tiempo con su familia y sus perros adorados Duke, Coco y Lily. Fue atleta y compitió en varias competencias de carreras incluyendo un maratón completo así también amaba el ciclismo. Fue un miembro activo de su iglesia, sirviendo como Diácono y Pastor Asociado Asistente.

Fue graduado del Seminario del Instituto Bíblico de Christ Gospel, y pastoreó con anterioridad Iglesias Christ Gospel Church con su esposa en Burgaw, NC y Chicago, IL. También pastoreo una iglesia en México.
