Fredrick Jerome Cheeks

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Fredrick Jerome Cheeks at the age of 63, on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, in Louisville, KY. Born in Albany, Georgia on July 25, 1960, Fredrick was the cherished son of the late Robert and Lillie Cheeks.

Fredrick is preceded in death by his brother, Nathaniel Cheeks, but leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. 

He is survived by his beloved wife, Vera Cheeks, and their children: Tamara Britney (Richard) of Jeffersonville, IN; Jason Cheeks (Donna) of Jeffersonville, IN; Jessica Lydia (Bryan) of Jeffersonville, IN; Joshua Cheeks of Jeffersonville, IN; and Trinija Martin (Rodney) of Garner, NC. He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, his loyal companion Snowball, and siblings Jimmy Cheeks, Robert Cheeks Jr, Shirley Evans (Michael), Rene Knight (Robert), Eva Cheeks-Harris (Milton), Patricia Cheeks, Beverly Cheeks, and Jackie Cheeks Edwards.

Fredrick's life was a testament to his faith and commitment to the Lord. He devoted himself to teaching others to grow in the likeness of Jesus Christ through the Mosaic Tabernacle. A man who deeply cherishes his family, Fredrick treasured his children and was especially protective of his daughters. He loved fishing, creating memories with his family, and serving alongside Rev. B.R. Hicks and the Christ Gospel Church community. A retired mechanical engineer from his federal job, Fredrick also proudly served his country in the US Army. Fredrick's warm and welcoming nature meant he never met a stranger, and he leaves behind friends scattered across many states who will miss him dearly.

Visitation will take place at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville, IN 47130, on Monday, May 20, 2024, from 2pm to 7pm. There will be another opportunity for visitation on Tuesday at Christ Gospel Church, 2614 East 10th St, Jeffersonville, IN 47130, from 10am to 11am, followed by the funeral service at 11am.
