Gracie Boggs, age 98, a cherished soul and beloved matriarch, peacefully passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2024. Born in the serene Appalachian Hills of Kingdom Come, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Grant and Mary Ison. Gracie's life was a testament to love, family, and the timeless art of crafting beauty from simplicity.
Gracie’s nimble fingers and creative spirit brought warmth and comfort to those she loved. As a talented seamstress and quilter, she crafted countless labors of love, each stitch a reflection of her boundless affection for her family. Her crochet work, known for its intricate patterns and heartfelt care, will remain treasured heirlooms in the homes of her descendants. She was a charter member of Oak Park Baptist Church, where she would raise her family in the nurture and admonition of The Lord for more than 60 years.
A devoted wife, Gracie's unwavering support and love for her late husband, Pascal, were the foundation of her family's strength. As a mother, she nurtured three children with grace and wisdom, instilling in them the values of kindness, hard work, and perseverance. Her role as a grandmother to seven, great-grandmother to thirteen, and great-great-grandmother to two, brought her immense joy and pride. Each grandchild was a new chapter in her story, each great-grandchild a testament to the enduring legacy of her love.
Gracie's life was rich with the simple joys of family gatherings, the shared stories over a quilt frame, and the gentle hum of her sewing machine. Her legacy lives on in the fabric of the lives she touched, in the laughter of her grandchildren, and in the loving memories held by all who knew her.
Survivors include her children, Sheryl Burns (Phillip), Rodney Boggs (Patricia), Leisa Hillman (David); grandchildren, Michelle Tudor (Ron), Elise Burns, Jeremiah Hillman (Laura), Joshua Hillman (Amanda), Elizabeth Connors (Josh), Courtney Monfort (Josh) and Christopher Boggs (Sarah); great-grandchildren, Brianna Hill (Cameron Andrew), Kaitlyn Hill (Stephen Parsons), Julian Tudor, Isabella Burns, Olivia Rape, Grant Tudor, Amelia Hillman, Lydia Hillman, Landon Hillman, Oliver Connors, Isaac Montfort, Alex Montfort, and Hudson Boggs; and two great-great-grandchildren, Cassius Andrew and Leo Andrew; brother, Glennon Ison; and sister-in-law, Jenny Audas.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway – Jeffersonville. Funeral services in honor of her life will be celebrated following receiving hours, 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery.
