Harvey Allen Schermer, age 85, peacefully entered the presence of his Savior on Monday April 22, 2024. Harvey was born in Wright County, Minnesota March 21, 1939, and graduated from Annandale High School class of 1956.
Harvey was raised a farmer and started his welding practice when his two children were young, along with working at Debourgh Manufacturing. In 1987; Harvey developed a welding partnership with Abhe & Svoboda where he participated in fabricating historic bridges in Hawaii, Oregon, and San Antonio.
Harvey was incredibly inventive, regularly drafting and creating mock-ups for his ideas. He had a witty sense of humor and loved to tease his family and friends as often as possible. Harvey was a man of strong faith in his Lord Jesus Christ, reading and studying God’s Word every day.
Harvey will be remembered and missed by his wife of 59 years, Lois (Widger) Schermer, daughter Brenda (Joe) Simons, son Brian (Marc) Schermer-Crow, grandchildren Joseph Simons and Aubriana (Jake) Harshfield, and siblings Norma Plaggerman and Verna Mae VanMaanen.
Preceding Harvey in death are his parents, John and “Tina” Cynthia Schermer, father and mother-in-law Freeman and Helen Widger; brothers-in-law Ralph VanMaanen and Burt Plaggerman, brother and sister-in-law Peter and Ardys Schermer, and brother Bernard Schermer (who passed 11 days prior).
