Howard "Gene" Eugene Jackson, Jr., age 75, passed away suddenly on Monday, March 17, 2025. Gene was a man whose warmth and humor could light up any room. With an infectious smile and a knack for delivering the perfect joke at just the right moment, he had a special way of making people feel seen, valued, and loved.
An avid golfer, Gene found joy on the greens, but his greatest passion was serving others. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he dedicated much of his time to Eastside Christian Church, where he formed deep and lasting friendships. He was a man of integrity, kindness, and unwavering love for his family.
Gene met the love of his life, Jewell Nowicke, in college, and together they built a beautiful life filled with laughter, faith, and more than 55 years of cherished memories. Above all, he will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and Pepaw, and his greatest joy came from the time spent with his family.
A little-known fact about Gene was his love for heavy metal music, particularly Metallica. Whether cruising in his car or relaxing at home, he could often be found nodding along to his favorite songs, proving that great taste in music knows no age.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard Sr. and Kathleen Jackson; and his sister, Sandy Justice.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Jewell Jackson; his children, Kathleen M. Ellis (Kenny) and Jason Jackson (Gretchen); and his grandchildren, Kassi Karr, Katlyn Ellis, Jonathan Ellis, Tyler Jackson (Mallory), Kip Jackson (Mercedes), and Tucker Jackson. His legacy continues through his adored great-grandchildren: Noah (9), Harper (8), Sadee (5), Calum (4), Rowan (5), Poppy (3), and Hattie (1). He also leaves behind his dear sister, Debbie Bisig, along with countless friends who were blessed to know him.
Gene will be dearly missed by his golfing and card-playing buddies, who will forever cherish the countless rounds, friendly bets, and stories shared over the years
Honoring Gene’s wishes, the family has chosen cremation. A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Shop with a Cop, PO Box 2034, Clarksville, IN 47129.
