Ida Belle Butler, age 78, of Clarksville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 20, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in the quiet town of Latrobe, Pennsylvania, she was the cherished daughter of the late Albert and Agnes Fink.
Ida Belle lived a life rich in simple joys and deep connections. With a warm heart and a sparkle in her eye, she found delight in life’s little treasures—solving puzzles at the kitchen table, browsing flea markets for “junkin’” finds, and curling up with a good book. She had a special love for nature, often spotted admiring the red birds in her yard or listening to the soft melodies of her beloved wind chimes. These small, serene moments reflected the gentle soul she was.
More than anything, Ida Belle treasured her family. She was a proud and loving grandmother, and nothing lit up her world more than time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her love was constant and unconditional, a quiet strength that held her family together through every season of life.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 30 years, Charles Butler, who remained faithfully by her side, her sons, John Grimsley (DeAnna) and Rollie Grimsley Jr. (Amanda), and her beloved siblings, brother, James Fink, and sisters Thelma Fink and Ruth Caldwell (Larry). Ida Belle’s legacy lives on in her grandchildren, Morysa, Jarrod (Crysta), Seth (Erica), Anthony (Gabrielle), Justin, Riley, Autumn and Bella, great-grandchildren, Atticus, Liam, Violet, Victoria, and Hudson. She also leaves behind her daughter-in-law, Sherry Sumner, whose bond with Ida Belle was one of respect and care. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Rollie J. Grimsley and her son, Thomas Grimsley.
Ida Belle’s passing leaves a space that cannot be filled, but her spirit—kind, strong, and endlessly loving—will remain with those who knew her. In every red bird’s song, every turning page, and every chime dancing in the breeze, her memory will echo, soft and eternal.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, from 10:00am until 12:00pm at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville, Indiana. A celebration of Ida’s life will be held at 12:00pm at the funeral home.
