Jack Roy Spoonmore, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2023, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, at the age of 88. Funeral services will be held at 12 PM on Monday, August 28, 2023 at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Pkwy in Jeffersonville, with entombment to follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 27, 2023 from 4-8 PM at Scott Funeral Home and on Monday from 11-12 PM at the funeral home.
Jack was born in Edwardsport, Indiana on December 19, 1934, to the late, Roy and Edna Hughes Spoonmore. Along with his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his son, Scott Spoonmore.
Jack was a devoted family man, who is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Sharon Spoonmore; his loving grandchildren, Stephanie Cheek (Matt), and Nick Spoonmore (Dana); great-grandchildren, Hunter Wilson, Callie Wilson, and Dakota Wilson.
Jack spent his professional career in sales for GISCO Corporation in Louisville, Kentucky. He was also a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving honorably during the Korean War. After his military service, Jack continued to serve his community as a member of the American Legion Barr-Boyer Post 192 in Edwardsport, Indiana.
Jack was a lifelong member of the Edwardsport Baptist Church. In his free time, Jack pursued his passion for writing poetry. His works were a reflection of his thoughts, experiences, and the beauty he saw in the world. Jack had a particular fondness for lighthouses, which he often visited. The lighthouses, with their guiding light, were a source of inspiration for many of his poems.
