James W. Payne, Jr., 76, of Clarksville, IN passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2020 at Clark Memorial Hospital. Visitation for James will be on Thursday, August 27, from 5 PM – 7 PM at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville, IN.

James was born on August 20, 1944 to the late James, Sr. and Genola Payne. Following his time serving in the US Army, James started work as a truck driver and ultimately retired from Brenntag Mid-South Chemical Company in 2011. When not on the road, James enjoyed bowling and cheering on his beloved Kentucky Wildcats.

Along with his parents, he his preceded in death by his wife, Linda Payne; and brother, Ray Payne.

Surviving are his sons, James W. Payne III, Michael A. Payne, Sr., and Christopher L. Payne; eleven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and brother, David Payne.
