James (Jim) Alan Atkinson, 60, of Jeffersonville, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2022. He was born June 12, 1961 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to the late Carl and Anna Lee Atkinson.
He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He then attended the University of Northern Iowa and the University of Nebraska-Omaha. He was a devoted employee of Fidelity Information Services where he worked for over 30 years as a Senior Business Systems Analyst. He loved the LORD with all his heart, soul, mind and strength. This love was evident as he shared the Gospel with great admiration and respect. He served with devotion as a senior deacon at Christ Gospel Church in Jeffersonville, Indiana where he had been a member since 1985. He was also known for his pun-manship, avid amateur weatherman services, humor, and ability to write a funny poem or song on demand.
Jim leaves behind his beloved wife of 37 years, Lezlie Atkinson; his son, Michael Scott (Nicole) Atkinson of New Albany, Indiana; his daughter, Carrie Elizabeth Atkinson of Jeffersonville, Indiana; his granddaughter, Emily Mairead Atkinson; two sisters, Nancy (Richard) Nelson of Jeffersonville, Indiana; Janie (Gary) Herrick of Council Bluffs, Iowa; five brothers, Dennis (Karen) Atkinson of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Richard (Stacey) Atkinson of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Douglas (Julie) Atkinson of San Antonio, Texas; Jeffrey (Christina) Atkinson of Kissimmee, Florida; Joseph (Kim) Atkinson of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and a host of nieces, nephews, and many life-long friends who cherish every loving and fun-filled memory of him.
Visitation will be Monday, June 6 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 7th, 2022 at Christ Gospel Church with burial to follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
