James "Jimmy" Robert Boone

A funeral mass for James “Jimmy” Robert Boone, 66, of Jeffersonville, Indiana will be held at 10 AM on Monday, March 16, 2020 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 315 E. Chestnut Street in Jeffersonville, with burial to follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2020 from 2-8 PM at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Pkwy in Jeffersonville.  He passed away on Wednesday March 11, 2020 at Clark Memorial Hospital.  

Jimmy was born on July 15, 1953 in New Albany, Indiana, to the late Bernard “Dave” and Elizabeth “Betty” Boone.  He graduated from Flaget High School in 1971 where he played basketball, football and ran track and field.  After high school, Jimmy attended Indiana University Southeast where he played basketball for the Grenadiers and graduated with a BA in Business.  He was a longtime mortgage loan officer for Cumberland Bank and several other financial institutions.  Jimmy’s knowledge of music amazed his family and friends.  He was also an avid IU and Indianapolis Colts fan.  Jimmy proudly coached Little League Baseball and Basketball at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was a longtime member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus.  He will be deeply missed by his loving family. 

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy Stengel Boone; and two siblings, Carol Ament and Steve Boone.

He is survived by his wife, Laura Boone; children, Matt Boone (Stephanie), Leah Nett (Matthew), Emily Kelly (Phil), Brian Scroggins (Jennifer); four siblings, Patty Gardtner (William), Tommy Boone (Mary Pat), Richard Boone (Cara), Donna Francis; mother-in-law, Loretta Osborne; father-in-law, John V. Stengel; brother-in-law, Dan Ament; sister-in-law, Pam Boone; and nine grandchildren, Maycy, Parker, James, Charlie, Matthias, Evelyn, A.J., Maddox, and Blake.
