James "Rodney" Mullins

James "Rodney" Mullins, 70, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of the lord. He was born on November 30, 1955, and lived a life marked by kindness, laughter, faith, and an unwavering love for those around him.

A proud Eagle alumnus of Fort Knox High School, Rodney never forgot his roots. He had a lifelong love for the Kentucky Wildcats, found peace and joy in the mountains of Eastern Kentucky, and treasured every opportunity to spend time in the place he called home. Whether cheering on his Wildcats, sharing stories on the porch, or enjoying the beauty of the mountains, Rodney embraced life with a grateful heart.

Rodney never met a stranger. His warm smile, welcoming personality, and genuine interest in others made everyone feel like family. He had a gift in the kitchen and was an amazing cook, creating meals that brought happiness to all.

In recent years, Rodney found a renewed sense of peace through his faith. He accepted the Lord as his Savior and was baptized, a decision that brought him great comfort and hope.

Rodney leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory: his daughter, Angie Murphy (Jay); his son, Brad Mullins (Toni); his beloved grandchildren, Landon and Hannah Murphy, and Willow and Kaiden Mullins; his brothers, Roger Mullins, Steve Mullins (Sharon), and Terry Mullins (Sandy); and his lifelong friend, Carol Baker Dawson, whose friendship was a treasured blessing throughout the years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Command Sergeant Major Hershel Mullins and June Mullins, whose love and guidance helped shape the man he became.

Rodney's legacy is one of hospitality, love for his family, and a faith that brought him peace. His laughter, stories, delicious meals, and kind spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Westminster Village for the exceptional care, kindness, and dignity they showed Rodney.

In keeping with Rodney's wishes, cremation has been chosen, and a private family service will be held at a later date.

Though his presence will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in knowing that he is at peace and that his love will remain in their hearts forever.
