Jean Marlena (Dietrich) Megenity

Jean Marlena Dietrich Megenity, 87, of Jeffersonville, IN, passed away on July 21, 2021 with her daughter by her side. 

A memorial visitation will be held from 4 to 6 PM on Monday, July 26, 2021 at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville, IN. 

Jean was born on February 8, 1934 in Newton Falls, OH, to the late Morand and Agnes Dietrich.  She graduated from the University of Kentucky as a Physician’s Assistant and then received her Surgical Assistant Degree from Yale University in New Haven, CT.  She dedicated her skills to various hospitals in the Upstate New York area, Florida and Kentuckiana.  She was a voracious world traveler traveling to countries in Asia, Europe, the Caribbean, South America, Mexico and Central America.  Jean enjoyed fine cuisine and wines and practicing several sports including, snow skiing, water skiing, tennis, scuba diving, running and most importantly, golf.  Jean had a passion for taking care of animals, all while caring for them at home, fostering, adopting and volunteering for local shelters.

Jean never met a stranger and always reached out to people in need.  She was a great mother, sister, grandma and friend. 

She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Megenity; grandchildren, Grace Megenity and Rowan Megenity; and several loving friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Morand and Agnes Dietrich; son, Darren Patrick Megenity; sister, Catherine Siebold Johnson; and her beloved dog, Molly.
