Jennifer Lynn Balmer, 75, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2025, at Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville, surrounded by the quiet love of those closest to her.
Born on December 20, 1949, Jennifer was a proud 1967 graduate of Silver Creek High School. Her life was a tapestry of faith, family, friendship, and a deep passion for music and joy. A devoted follower of Christ, she was a longtime member of Bethany Christian Church in Jeffersonville, where she found comfort, purpose, and community.
Jennifer devoted her professional life to civil service, where she served with pride, integrity, and compassion. She was a lifelong civil service employee and truly loved her job, finding fulfillment in work that allowed her to support her community and contribute meaningfully every day.
In her younger years, Jennifer found joy on the softball field, where her spirit of teamwork and lighthearted competitiveness shone brightly. Her love of music was a lifelong companion—whether playing the piano with grace or delighting in her cherished collection of music boxes, each note seemed to echo the warmth of her soul. She found happiness in the kitchen, always eager to try new recipes and explore new restaurants, sharing her discoveries with those she loved.
Jennifer’s life was rich with meaningful relationships. She is survived by her loving brother, Terry Balmer (Sue), and her dear nieces and nephews: Chad Balmer (Andrea), Todd Balmer (Staci), Russell Balmer, and Sarah Balmer, and her sister-in law, Shirley Balmer. She was deeply blessed by the presence of her lifelong companion, Richard Bast, and her caring best friend, Denise Couch, both of whom stood by her with unwavering love and devotion.
She now reunites in peace with her beloved parents, Homer and Mabel Balmer, and her brother, Mark “Moose” Balmer, whose memories she held close throughout her life.
Jennifer’s gentle heart, her laughter, and her enduring faith will be remembered and missed by all who knew her. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the love she so freely gave.
In keeping with her wishes, a private graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Monday, September 15, 2025 at Chapel of Memories Mausoleum located with Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations in Jennifer’s honor to the ASPCA or the organization for disabled veterans.
