Jessie E. Kelty, 77, of Jeffersonville IN passed away peacefully, with her son’s hand in hers, on January 12, 2024.
Jessie enjoyed caring for her garden and flowers, her koi pond, bird watching and being with her family. She dedicated her life to her family and friends. She was our rock, our shoulder, our best friend and the best mother anyone could ever ask for. There was never a moment when she didn’t give anything asked of her when she was needed and she was a mom to everyone who met her. She epitomized kindness, compassion and patience beyond measure. If she imparted even a fraction of her precious energy to those who loved her, how fortunate we will have been. And she will be missed by everyone who knew her more than words could ever express.
She is survived by her daughter, Erin Murphy (Michael Merrill) and son Jason Kelty and four furry grandchildren. She also leaves behind her siblings: her sisters Jeane Lawson, Juanita Searcy, Susan Button and brother Dennis Perkins. She also had many, many beloved nieces, nephews and extended family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Kelty, her mother and father, Raymond and Kathryn Perkins, her brother David Perkins and sisters Louise Hardin, Patricia Miller and Mary Helen Crenshaw.
Visitation will be at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville, on Monday, January 22 from 2:00 to 8:00 pm and again on Tuesday, January 23 from 11:00 to 12:00. A special time for sharing of memories will be held at 6:00 during the Monday evening visitation. Burial will take place in Resthaven Memorial Park on Tuesday at 1:00 pm.
