Jim L. Sowders

James “Jim” L. Sowders, 92, passed away on August 31, 2021 at Autumn Woods Nursing Home. A visitation will be held on Friday, September 3, 2021 from 4-8pm and Saturday, September 4 from 11:30-12:30. The funeral service will be at 12:30 on Saturday at Scott Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Kraft Graceland Memorial Park.

Jim was born to the late Nathan and Lilly Sowders on April 15, 1929 in Edmondson, Kentucky. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his Brothers, Clyde, Leonard, and Charles Sowders; and Sisters, Aline Gates and Faye Bimslager.

Jim is survived by his wife of 39 years, Barbara Sowders; Son, Brent (Rachel) Hussung; “Special Son”, Butch Feltner; Grandchildren, Jocelyn Hussung, Jackson Hussung, Bayleigh Chaney, Abbey Ellis, and Cassie Ellis; Sister, Ann King; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Jim was the owner of Accurate Exterminating & Home Inspecting in Louisville, Kentucky. He modeled for over 30 years with Alex Adams Modeling Agency under the name of Allyn Holt. Jim was proficient in ASL, and taught at Jeffersonville Library for a number of years. He had a beautiful singing voice and sang in the choir at the Billy Graham Crusades. Jim was a member and choir director at West Maple Baptist Church. He was a talented artist; many of his paintings were displayed at the local Stockyard Banks.
