John Thomas Durbin passed away peacefully in his home on November 8, 2023, surrounded by his family at the age of 58.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville, IN, with burial to follow at Bethesda Cemetery in Elizabeth, IN. Visitation will be held from 11 AM to 8 PM on Friday and after 11 AM on Saturday at the funeral home. A Masonic Service by Utica Lodge #337 will be held at 7:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home.
John was born on October 13, 1965 in Louisville, KY, and grew up in Jeffersonville, IN. John was a man of many talents. He was a barber for 25 years at the Clipper, an entrepreneur, leading him to becoming a mortgage broker and partner at Genesis One, the Utica Township Trustee, and a self-proclaimed comedian and the best storyteller ever; he could always make you laugh!
He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, smoking his famous brisket, cutting his grass, singing, and watching Big Foot shows and Ancient Aliens. John was a Past Master Mason of Utica Lodge 337 and was bestowed the honor of being a Kentucky Colonel. He was a pillar in his community, a man of faith, and an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was truly one of a kind.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Donna (Edlin) Durbin.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Robin; daughters, Piper Durbin and Payton Durbin, and her fiancé Zach Coleman; grandsons, Colt and Levi; brothers, Jeff and Jody; along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and too many friends to mention.
