John Edward Zielberg

John Edward Zielberg, 79, a man of unwavering faith, love, and service, passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 3, 2024, surrounded by his family. Born in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Louis and Virginia Zielberg, John lived a life marked by dedication, kindness, and a profound sense of duty.

John was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving his country with honor during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he embarked on a distinguished career at DuPont, where his hard work and integrity earned him the respect of his colleagues and peers. Following his retirement, John continued to pour his energy into serving others, becoming an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lanesville, Indiana, where he worshipped and contributed for the last 42 years. A 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, John faithfully volunteered at the church’s food pantry, embodying the values of compassion and charity.

John’s greatest joy was his family. He met the love of his life, Mary Anne Sitter Zielberg, at a dance hall, sparking a romance that blossomed into 57 years of marriage built on love, mutual respect, and shared devotion. Together, they created a beautiful family, and John will be remembered most as a loving and devoted husband, father, and Papaw. His warmth and kindness extended beyond his family; John never met a stranger and was fondly respected by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by his beautiful bride, Mary Anne Zielberg; children, Paul Zielberg (John Schroeder), Deborah Zielberg Wyatt (Rich), Daniel Zielberg, and Kenneth Zielberg (Sara); and his beloved grandchildren, Parker Wyatt and Caroline Zielberg.

Visitation for John Edward Zielberg will be held 12-3 p.m. Sunday, December 8, 2024, at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway - Jeffersonville. Funeral services in his honor will be celebrated at Scott Funeral Home 3 p.m. Sunday, December 8, 2024.
