Juanita (Sloan) Shepherd

Juanita (Sloan) Shepherd passed away of natural causes on the 8th of August surrounded by her family. She was born and raised in Anco, Kentucky to the late Kanawha and Mabel Sloan born on April 28, 1931.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Marion R. Shepherd, and sister, Clotine Sloan.

She was a loving wife, mother, Memaw and great Memaw. She enjoyed traveling to 41 states and four countries. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, painting, playing bunco and completing puzzles.

She graduated as valedictorian from Vicco High School, earned a college business degree and enjoyed a distinguished career as a Legal Secretary for 50 years.

She is survived by two sons, Marion L. Shepherd and Rudolph L. (Rudy) Shepherd, both of Jeffersonville, Indiana; two granddaughters, Erika Sloan Dixon (Tyler) of Jeffersonville, Indiana and Courtney Rae Schmidt (Adam) of Columbus, Indiana; one great grandson, Grayson Joseph Dixon along with the upcoming arrival of great grandson, Henry Adam Schmidt, in November; and a half-sister, Ivalee Kirby of Arizona.

Visitation will be at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway on Friday, August 11 from 2:00 to 8:00 pm and again on Saturday from 10:00 am until time of service, at 11:00 am. The funeral will be in the chapel of the funeral home with interment to follow in Walnut Ridge Cemetery.
