June Yvette Frey Drake was born September 11, 1954, in Detroit, MI. Surrounded by family and friends, she transitioned to her heavenly home on October 19, 2025.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rudolph Ferman, Sr. and Georgia Chambers Ferman; brothers, Rudolph Ferman, Jr. and Eric Frey; sisters, Brenda Palmer and Mary Etta Johnson; and her sweet dog, Julius.
June accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age and a was baptized by her uncle, the late, Herbert Chambers, Sr. She remained a devoted Christian throughout her life and was a faithful member of Brighter Day Anderson Temple up until her illness.
June graduated from Jeffersonville High School in 1972. She later pursued a career in health care for over 30 years, retiring from Norton Hospital. For most of her tenure, she served as a Labor and Delivery Technician- assisting with the births of several nieces, nephews, and family friends.
June loved to shop and never minded splurging on a new purse. She was known for her famous corn pudding and often made it for family gatherings. Later in life, she picked up knitting and crafting. She was affectionally known as Nana by her grandchildren and June Bug by other family members. Her nickname for the women in her family was Lucy.
Left to cherish her memory is her son, Earl (Ann, Fiancée) Lee Burns, Jr.; grandchildren, Andrea, Jermme, Mackenzie, and Joryn; great-grandchildren, Carter, Talon, Addison, Kalena, Lilly Ann, Blaze, and Jackson; siblings, Donna Taylor, Gary Ferman, Nehemiah Chambers, Gregory Frey, Michelle (George) Murphy, Marianna (Jerry) Logan, Jada (Robert) Muir, and Melissa Rodgers;
sister-in-law, Beverly Ferman; aunt, Mary Chambers; and a host of other nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
A special thank you to her brother, Gregory Frey, who went above and beyond until the very end, and the staff at Hill Crest Nursing Home for their care and support during her time there.
